March Sushi and Witbier

I have made sushi (and watched my meatball nephew make it) and have the kit to prove it however this time we bought it from Kroger.  We all like their California rolls and we were much more focused on the Witbier.

Witbier was a type of beer that was unfamiliar to me however Matt always comes through with the beer portion of our pairings.  According to Beer Advocate
  • "A Belgian Style ale that's very pale and cloudy in appearance due to it being unfiltered and the high level of wheat, and sometimes oats, that's used in the mash. Always spiced, generally with coriander, orange peel and other oddball spices or herbs in the back ground."
We try to use a different brand each time so this time he chose ShockTop Belgian White.  Because I love ShockTop anyway (thanks for introducing us Alec Sakenes) this was a great choice appropriately served with oranges.

I found this fact sheet explaining the taste profile and how to serve it.  Interesting fact I didn't know, it is a product of Anheuser-Busch.  Then I found this great site with lots of fact sheets for future tastings.

Our presentation was perfect and we considered this another great beer pairing month!
